23rd Gemini Awards Host - Jason Priestley


John Kastner Now in his third decade as a professional performer, Jason Priestley continues to be one of the most versatile talents in the entertainment business both in front of and behind the camera. His portrayal of Brandon Walsh on the hit series Beverly Hills 90210 for eight seasons earned him two Golden Globe nominations. He made his directorial debut on the show in 1993 and produced and directed numerous episodes. A native of Vancouver, Priestley appeared in Canadian television commercials and starred in his first TV movie by the age of eight.

Jason's international acting credits include the drama Tru Calling, the mini-series Colditz, the romantic comedy I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, and guest appearances on 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and Spin City. In Canada, he has appeared in the drama Sleep Murder, the comedy Going the Distance and Chicks with Sticks. Other film credits include Cherish, Calendar Girl, Tombstone, Die, Mommie, Die! (Special Jury Prize Award, Sundance Film Festival), and Love and Death on Long Island, which premiered at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2000, Priestley starred in the London production of Warren Leight's Tony Award-winning play Side Man. Moreover, Jason directed and produced the critically acclaimed documentary for Barenaked Ladies, Barenaked in America, which premiered at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival.
